From the beginning of April till Mid of July we ringed birds near de Ijssel for the CES-Project.
An overview of the birds we most trapped with some comments:
On 22 April:
Garden Warbler
Reed Bunting female
Reed Bunting, male
Willow Warbler
Great spotted Woodpecker, male
Blue Tits, a pair. We released them together.
Bullfinch 22 May, sitting near our ringing hut
On 4 July:
Marsh Warbler. You can see the difference between a reed warbler:
the upperbill is thicker; and the colour is more grey-greenish
This bird below is a reed warbler, trapped in August 2010
Goldfinch. It 's a male, because of the red passing the eye.
Willow Tit (matkop).
You can see the broad and sloppy bib, the black feathers of the bib are more spread to both sides and the absence of the white tip on the base of the bill. This is a young bird.
But sometimes the difference isn't quite clear to see. The bird below is also a willow tit, trapped at September 2008. The bib is smaller and more straight than the younger bird.
